19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from March of 2023.
Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
His counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, took control to create a third set.
Moutet defended four early break points in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
