The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Reaction

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
